As someone who has lived in Cedar Rapids for thirty years, I am sold on this community and the surrounding areas, and my job as a REALTOR is, quite literally, to sell others on my community. Let me share with you why Cedar Rapids is a wonderful place to live.
Cedar Rapids is a moderate-size city of 120,000 people, large enough for the arts and other activities, small enough to raise a family in relative safety, especially when compared to the crime rates of larger cities. We pride ourselves on having a friendly hospitable community. Cedar Rapidians also have trouble understanding traffic jams, as they are virtually nonexistent here. We are centrally located, a five-hour drive to Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, or Minneapolis Our airport has been expanded and has connecting flights to most areas.
Our school systems, public and parochial, are among the finest in the nation, and our students’ standardized test scores justify the claim. We have excellent four-year colleges in the area which include Coe, Cornell, and Mt. Mercy. In addition, Kirkwood Community College, a two-year vocational school, flourishes in our midst.
Many cultural opportunities also exist throughout the Cedar Rapids metropolitan areas, and we are a short half-hour drive from Iowa City, home to the University of Iowa and its sports, arts, and educational activities. Professional theater companies, the Cedar Rapids Symphony, and various civic activities in Cedar Rapids and environs cater to every taste.
The housing market in the Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities continues to be strong. Our community continues to expand and attract industries.
